Think About the Future

Business Owners Make a Lot of Money

If you are a small business owner already, this one doesn’t need much of an explanation. Many wannabe entrepreneurs fantasize about leaving the confines of working for someone else. They think starting their own company will make them wealthier than being an employee. In some cases it is true, but on the whole, it is not.

Small Business Going Forward

It is admittedly difficult to make sweeping pronouncements about the future of small business in the United States. The prospects for a one-location retail video store versus a 90-person telemedicine delivery company are obviously not the same. However, there are a few macro changes afoot that will affect us all in some way.

IT’S NOT ABOUT THE MONEY

What these expressions such as “sense of purpose” and “reason for being” mean is that it’s about more than just making money—a lot more. If you are educated enough to be reading this book (and wise enough to see it would be helpful), you can find a job. You can make a living and put food on the table. The same goes for your employees. If it’s just about money, they can work for you or they can work for somebody else down the street—what difference does it make, right?
